Dental diseases
Dental caries is one of the most common diseases. It is characterised by destruction of dental tissues. The progression of caries from enamel through dentine into pulp causes pulp infection, quite often infecting the tissue at the very top of the root – periapical process, which can lead to tooth loss.
Depending on the extent of caries progression, the caries treatment is performed in several ways, ranging from the simple preparation of surface caries by dental filling, over dental treatments, placing root canal filling or root resection to dental extraction as a last resort, if the previous procedures weren’t satisfactory or possible.
